I was craving Indian food and came across Jalwa on Yelp whilst looking up local Indian spots in the Montclair area. My sister and I decided to stop by on a weekday during lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there!

Our server was immediately inviting, kind and very funny! The interior of Jalwa is also beautiful and they had a great playlist of music.

To start off, we ordered the Vegetable Samosa (Crispy turnovers, seasoned potatoes, green peas) and were also given complimentary crackers with an array of chutneys. The samosas were hot, crispy and flavorful and I loved pairing them with the chutneys. I rate them a 5/5!

We decided to go for the Lunch Special- which included basmati rice, choice of naan, daal and the vegetable of the day. For my main dish, I ordered the Aloo Gobi Masala Dum (Florets of cauliflower & potato cubes sautéed with ginger, turmeric & spices) with the Garlic Naan and I am so happy that I did! The Aloo Gobi was flavorful, tender and paired beautifully with the basmati rice. The Garlic Naan was buttery, soft and perfectly garlicy. I loved dipping it in the daal!

The lunch special is such a great deal and left me full and satisfied with leftovers to bring back home! I definitely need to stop by again to try out more menu options. Overall, I highly recommend Jalwa if you're in the Montclair area and would like some delicious Indian cuisine!
